Charles B. "Tex" Thorton founded Triple L Youth Ranch in 1971 in Colorado as a boys treatment facility. Then in 1986 Triple L moved to Anderson, Indiana. Triple L has two campuses. Triple L is licensed to serve 30 youth at a time.
Triple L offers group home and treatment services to adolescent girls as well as services to pregnant and or parenting teen mothers and their children.
Triple L stands for "Love, Learn and Live". This name was established as a result of the original mission which was as follows:
"Youth must receive and feel freely given love in order that they may become free to enrich themselves with the processes enabling them to learn the things which will assist them to live with successes."
The ranch brand which was established in Colorado and registered with the Colorado Branding Commission is explained as:
- A half circle which represents the life in a cup of cool water thereby symbolizing living.
- The L represents Learning
- The cross represents the sacrificial loving of Jesus Christ.
